How do we approach interior design
with relationships in mind?

It’s crucial to take all details about your clients into consideration, especially when curating a space for a couple. For example, your approach and how you fill that space will differ for a single man versus a family.

The key here is equality: we marry both personalities and styles. We not only integrate elements from the couple, but we also add function into the equation. Perhaps one partner craves more space for storage or an area to display precious keepsakes from their travels. We ensure both parties are represented in the design of their home.

A PROJECT FOR A COUPLE THAT RESONATES

We collaborated with a couple in Russian Hill, a charming neighborhood in San Francisco. Their distinct tastes gave us an exciting challenge, so we tried to capture their essence. The woman’s style is more understated. She gravitates toward creamy and rusty tones. So, her style is predominantly showcased in the primary bedroom. On the other hand, her husband loves color, fashion, and humor, so we were able to pull these elements together in the artwork and touches of fabrics that lean fashionable. Elements of their personalities converged in the living and dining rooms, creating a union of drama and tranquility.

HOW DO WE ACCOUNT FOR DIFFERENT TASTES?

It can seem like a juggling act when accommodating various personalities within the same home. During the concept phase, our clients might share inspiration photos. when we aim to capture the feeling instead of resorting to mimicry.

Additionally, we work to understand our clients, everything from what makes them laugh to what makes them tick. Aesthetics-wise, what do they value? Do they drift toward bold textures or muted colors? Does comfort take precedence above all else in their space? Are they playful and armed with a sharp wit, which translates into their style?

Then, we collaborate with the couple regarding where they come together and where they spend their alone time. We approach every project as a collaboration. That certainly contributes to where and how we marry tastes in their space.
