IN THE RAW
Designing a space when it doesn’t exist yet, from conception to completion, while incorporating raw materials, is a fascinating, eye-opening process. You’re creating something from scratch. It allows you to see how the materials complement each other and infuse a more profound meaning into that space.
Bringing a Space to Life
We are currently designing a couple of spaces from the ground up, using raw and creatively designed materials to withstand elements in the surrounding environment and stand the test of time aesthetically.
Raw materials can bring a space to life, adding texture and dimension. They are also perfect for capturing a theme or an aesthetic. For a space that needed an edgy, industrial-leaning edge, we incorporated a chain maille curtain. For another rustic, earthier vibe, we use reclaimed hand-sourced wood or stone slabs to reflect nature indoors. There’s a versatility to these materials that human-made ones don’t always have, as they blend with so many of our spaces.
We often aim to add contrast with materials, such as exposed wooden beams or a dramatic marble slab with attractive veining, to exhibit a feeling of lightness and darkness.
Materiality is crucial in interior design; selecting high-quality materials ensures your space will age gracefully.
